Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou Dahomey are one of the most prolific music groups to emerge from Africa. With over 50 full lengths to their name and hundreds of 45s, Orchestre Poly-Rythmo's music still remains largely confined to Benin, buried beneath the larger markets of West Africa.

A handful

Monareta are from Bogota, Colombia. Their music is a fusion of 80's danceable electro-breakbeat slash dub styles mixed with cumbia. Kind of old Colombia meets New York. Monareta pay homage to the bike scene of their youth by wearing helmets affixed with a rim and spokes.

The Ode of the Hoot and Glow

Hoooot

————

The howl
burst in
and woke me
at about
the time
I never sleep.

The lonely coyote
up on a hill
hooting his catch.

Sharing his stoke
with the night.

I headed north. The kelp was turning and twisting, patting my feet, nudging my calf. It was as if The Sea Songstress was extending a welcoming embrace. The dark sea I saw was sharing the night with a line of shooting light as a meteor zipped overhead.

The lonely surfer
out in the ocean
hooting his catch.

Sharing his stoke
with the night.

Gomez asked the question.

"How's the water?"

She paddled by
with her arms wide open.

"The water is fine"

He followed her
with his eye's closed,
everywhere she goes.
